Physiotherapy for sports injuries

Play with confidence - a persistent player never quits

How we can help

It’s a given that most people who play sport will incur an injury at some point. When this happens, you may be forced to stop your sport and focus on recovering. This is an opportunity to heal from your injury physically and be mentally prepared for when you can safely return to sport. A physiotherapist can give you guidance throughout your recovery period.

Our method

To help you to return to sport following an injury your physiotherapist will do the following:

  • Assess your injury and create short- and long-term goals with you
  • Choose a suitable treatment plan, including hands on techniques such as soft tissue massage and mobilisations
  • Give you a graded exercise programme focusing on strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination
  • Look at your lifestyle choices
  • Help with self-management strategies including ways to relieve pain, reduce swelling, and joint stiffness
  • Advise you when you are safe to return and to what capacity

Our top tips to help you return to sport

  • Follow the RICE method: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation in the acute injury phase
  • Consider low impact sports such as swimming during your recovery
  • Do your physiotherapy exercises daily
  • Eat a well-balanced diet
  • Keep hydrated
  • Take anti-inflammatories in the acute stage of an injury
  • Wean yourself into your sport slowly. Don’t rush

For the last 3 years my mother (84) had been having increasing levels of back pain. She has seen the NHS GP and only received pain killers as support. We decided to help my mum so much to avoid this pain in her back, wheelchair etc. Anyway, we decided to try a private physiotherapist at my mother’s home just in case it would help. The Home Physio Group came up after an internet search and they provided support for elderly patients. We booked the first consultation in our home hoping a course of physiotherapy would help. This involved simple exercises to carry out to strengthening her back plus walking. This was followed up by 2 further visits over the next 6 weeks to monitor progress and offer more guidance.I know it is still ‘early day’s’ but my mums back is much better and I believe on the way to recovery and with much reduced pain. What I liked was the fact – it was at home and my mum listened to an external expert, the fact that it was private meant that there was not the usual NHS rush with the treatment being more tailored to her needs/capabilities and the follow up visit incentivized the completion of exercises. A point which was refreshing was that after reaching these improvements the consultant voluntarily said that they would not need to come any more as we were on the right track. For our family we have now moved from a regime of protecting her back to strengthening and exercising her back despite her age.I am sure this treatment will not work for all conditions. However, if you believe the problem to be muscular then it is maybe is worth a try as any amount of money is good value if it reduces pain. The person carrying out the physio was Ken who we found to be a very professional and well mannered which is so important especially for an elderly patient not used to phsio therapy. 5 star !!!On the whole originally, we thought it might be expensive but in our case money well spent. Thankyou Ken and Home Physio Group

Excellent experience with Home Physio Group, from the initial enquiry to the very prompt attendance of Feroz the physiotherapist. He was excellent, so very helpful and knowledgeable, he was able to advise my elderly mum on the right program of exercises to follow to get herself walking again after a 9 week ICU stay. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend! As someone who has undergone three knee surgeries with three different physical therapists, Raj is by far the best. Raj is knowledgeable, kind, efficient, and truly cares about his patients. He took time to understand my injury and created a personalized plan that helped me recover quickly and safely. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and would recommend Raj to anyone dealing with similar injuries.

I have booked a physio through this company and can say I was really impressed with the process. A physiotherapist was assigned to me to come visit at my home address which was convenient. My physio Ken was really good when he explained the procedure. Spoke about the importance of my needs and was able to identify the issue and work on this issue. On my first appointment the massage was really effective as I felt a difference after a few days. Ken gave me exercises that I needed to do which really did help. Highly recommend Ken as he knows his work and is very professional in his sector of work. Will be using and referring the services for sure .

Regarding my appointment with Sangram Shinde. He arrived on time, with a friendly attitude, and we proceeded to discuss my problems. He checked my mobility and function and made the important point that providing patients with too large a list of exercises to perform was counterproductive. We then went through the list of exercises he recommended for me. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sangram to other prospective patients as he has an excellent ‘chairside’ manner.P J E

Excellent service provided by Keren for my grandmother following a hip fracture who despite being very frail is able to go up and down the stairs which is excellent for her quality of life. Very professional. Easy to arrange even during the Christmas period.

What a brilliant service and one I was not previously aware of until I had my hip replacement and found myself needing the help and advice of a physiotherapist at my home. A local Physio Clinic gave me the telephone number for this home visit service. A friendly, helpful voice on the line found a physiotherapist in my area, booked an appointment and a wonderful, very knowledgeable physio arrived at my house that afternoon. For the first time in 4 days I was able to have a good night's sleep! I am very happy to recommend Home Physio Group.

I have looked at the exercise programme and found that I'm already doing similar exercises which I had to research myself despite asking for help with my sciatica and nutrition from the NHS. I needed help with nutrition because of unrelated effects of C. Difficile causing dramatic weight lose.Feeling has returned to almost all my leg except certain movements in my toes and lack of feeling there make it impossible to drive.I was told so far so good by your home visitor which has given me confidence but I fear the next Chemo may send back to square one

I cannot praise Chi Lok Ken Hong (known as Ken) enough in what he has achieved with my 90 year old mother, Catherine, who broke her hip in early September. The promised NHS community package of care post discharge has still not materialised (2 months later), but due to mum’s struggling, we contacted Home Physio who responded quickly to mum’s needs and arranged for Ken to see her within a week of contact. Initially she was struggling to even get out of a chair, but with Ken’s guidance, over 6 weeks she is now basically fully mobile again, is walking with just a stick, going up and down stairs, and going out and about with a walker. Ken has been amazing. He has been excellent at explaining all exercises and has been encouraging at every stage. He has been professional but warm and kind in his approach, instilling confidence. My mother has valued his praise. He has always been on time and kept us informed. He has always followed through almost immediately on sending links to exercises. It is obvious he is passionate about his work. We are so pleased we found him. He has given mum back her independence. Thank you so much.Heather

I’m writing this on behalf of my friend who has recently completed a block of physio sessions with Fawad Husseini.Fawad is a charming man who instantly made my friend feel at ease. He is used to dealing with older people and is extremely kind and patient. He tailored each session to my friend’s needs on any particular day. Over the course of 2+ months I saw my friend gaining confidence and improved physical ability; she has gone from being chair-bound and totally dependent on others to being able to walk with the support of an rollator. The experience has been a very positive one. I highly recommend Fawad.

Amazing ServiceFollowing a fall resulting in a distal femoral replacement my 92 year old mum was weak and had lost confidence to be able to walk without somebody near her.I contacted Home Physio Group; who quickly explained the cost and packages on offer. An initial assessment was arranged within days.Mum received excellent care from Fawad. He was very professional caring, and able to assess mums capabilities quickly. He showed compassion and positivity, which really helped her determination to get back walking properly. This along with exercises for her to do on a daily she progressed from hardly lifting her leg, bending her knee and getting out of a chair to being able to walk with 2 sticks.I would definitely recommend this home physio company.
